Im a mature student at solent university studding towards gaining a BA hons in makeup and hair. Iv spent the last three years in a collage not far from the uni gaining A Levels in textiles and fine art and also English lit. I really feel being a mature student gives me an advantage and also makes me appreciate learning a lot more.
I qualified as a hair dresser at 18 and even though I enjoyed it, once I got there I just felt like "is this it?" I wanted to go further I just wasn't too sure how to at the time. I went on to have my three boys and slowly realised how much I missed the creativeness that comes with hairdressing, I just wasn't too eager to get back into the salon. In my spare time I was doing prom,wedding and girls nights out hair and the occasional make up, I would spend hours drooling over the latest trends, chatting with my sisters and trying out new technics on myself.........I also knew that to get to university I had to put in the time and go back to collage first,Luckily for me I have great friends within the teaching sector that encouraged me and pointed me in the right direction.........I won't lie, running a family home , running around after three small boys and doing home work can be hard, but it's amazing. Learning something new everyday is pure bliss. Meeting new people and knowing this is only the beginning to the dreams that I have is euphoric.........I can't wait to share this with you :)
