So heres m final design for he timed assessment I feel iv kept to what i was researching in both contemporary and elizabethan and then expanded on it more by adding the dramatic eyes. As Naomi was doing my make up we felt the eyes could be a little more higher, so tat was the only thing changed on my design. Im really pleased with the out come from this fist practice.

i was abrahensive at first o take on Naomi's design as i felt not as confident to produce something she wanted that was so flawless, however I really enjoyed the process and was really happy with the outcome.
we made a few changes ready for assessment day , we felt a greyer shade on the cheeks added more depth and i also suggest the gold flecks on the lips. I really like his look its vey contemporary, i wouldn't have any quems wearing his look out myself and yet has hat underline feel of Elizabethan.

contempry make up inspiration

So iv selected some inspirational pictures that inspire me and really look Elizabethan with a contemporary edge. I wanted to share this as i feel research into the designing process is immensely.

Queen Elizabeth I (Cate Blanchett), Tilbury Speech

This clip is from Elizabeth the golden age. I am referencing it as its part of the inspiration to my finale design in both makeup and hair assessments. the look is purity and virginal, and yet holds power and wisdom.

The Taming of the Shew,Which characters portray Elizabethan period and review

This adaption of the taming of the shew is written by Sally Wainwright and is outrageously funny and witty! i really enjoyed this play and fell in love with most the characters.

Katherine Minlo is portrayed as an outspoken and rude polition with a horrifying temper. she is still a unmarried 38 year old virgin and is always being told to marry. this to me really screams Elizabeth I "the virgin Queen"
she also shows other Elizabethan traits, though her chosen colour of clothing, black nipped in the waist suits and open colours. her hair is in a parting and her makeup is very pale and bland.

Many of the other characters also show Elizabethan , by there clothes and fabrics used as well such as velvet, this is an indication to wealth aswell.

face charts and blocking out eye brows

Blocking out eyebrows and traditional Elizabethan look

So with Sue this week we used two different techniques to block out eyebrows and also creating a traditional Elizabethan look.

The Elizabethan look was very powdery and white as this was a sign of high class. The darker you were the lower in class you were. To block out the eyebrows we used prit stick and also soap. My fav by far was the pritstick, even though you had to work quickly with it i felt the finish was smother and more hidden to that of the soap.

WITH GLUE

  • GLUE STICK
  • WORK REALLY QUICKLY
  • WITH A SPATULER SCRAP GLUE OFF AND APPLY TO THE BACK OF YOUR CLEAN HAND OR PLLETTE
  • APPLY TO EYEBROWNS IN BOTH DIRECTIONS, AGAINTS THE GROWTH AND WITH THE HAIR
  • SCRAP OFF ANY EXSESS GLUE
  • WITH A COTTON BUD AND WARM WATER GO AROUND THE EYEBROW TO REMOVE ANY OFF THE SKIN

WITH SOAP

  • USE A BOWL WITH WARM WATER IN IT
  • PLACE THE SOAP IN IT AND USING A SCRAPER SCRAP OFF SOAP
  • APPLY TO THE EYE BROW
  • WITH A CLEAN FINGER OR SPATULER FLATTEN DOWN THE EYE BROW
  • YOU MAY NEED TO USE A LITTLE PRESSURE
  • ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOUR CLIENT IS COMFTABLE

After I finished the eyebrows I applied Illamasqua skin base mixed with Illamasqua rich liquid foundation to the face, I then used white eye shadow to the face to create a powdery look. I also used from KRYOLAN for the checks chive blossom.

Eyes and Lips

·      So I carried out an consultation on Sophie and I decided she has closed set eyes.
·      After applying a 0base I chose a subtle look would complement Sophie so the colors I chose were from KRYOLAN white pepper and caraway.
·      After I applied both to the eye and defining more around the out crease with caraway I used an eye liner in black to finish it.
·      For the lips I used my own shade of pink from the BARRY M range, which I used after applying lip balm as I finds this sofens the lips. Sophie never usually uses bright colors but I felt it made her features stand out more.
